Michael Hemenway has worked as a criminal law attorney for the past four decades, as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney.  He has represented folks from all walks of life and has tried over 500 cases.  Shaped by firsthand experience, he mostly writes about the gritty inner workings of the criminal justice system, while still keeping an optimistic eye.

Michael lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, and is a faculty member at the University of Virginia Law School.  When not working, he can be found writing, painting, or riding old motorcycles on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
